Periodontology

picture: nurse Janine informs a patientWhy is a treatment necessary?

Our nutrition has significantly changed in recent years. Often times, there is plaque left in the embrasures that was not completely removed during the tooth brushing.

The bacteria in the plaque do not only attack the gums but also the jaw-bone that can be destroyed. The gums inflame and swell, hurts, and the tooth itself gets loose and is sometimes lost.

Both the dentist and the patient have to do something against that because

  1. own teeth are the best a whole life long
  2. artificial dentition is getting more expensive

This is why treatment is necessary.

What is done during treatment?

Persistent plaque on the tooth root is removed pain free using local anesthesia. This is done with ultrasound technology.

Even heavily decomposed jaw-bone can be reconstructed by the means of this spezial method.
